SCIENTIFIC SCOPE
- Biodiversity of medicinal plants, microbes such as bacteria, actinobacteria, fungi, including mushrooms.
- Biodiversity of marine flora, fauna and microbes.
- Endophytic and endozoic microbes and their role in production of bioactive natural products.
- Isolation, purification and identification of bioactive compounds and new developments in drug discovery.
- Synthetic transformations of bioactive compounds. Novel synthetic and technological approaches in medicinal chemistry.
- Bioactivity evaluation for natural and synthetic products, Food and biological additives from terrestrial and marine organisms.
- New trends technology, in tissue culture and biotechnology of natural products for production and enhancement of pharmaceuticals, cosmeceuticals, nutraceuticals, and agricultural preparations.
Our college, Government Arts College (Autonomous), Karur, was started in the year 1966 and the Department of Botany was stated in the year 1978. This college and the department provide quality education for poor and rural students. Students from rural area around 50km of Karur, are studying in our college. An innovative step has been taken by our department to make the learners of modern Botany to understand the central dogma of plant life.
The aim of the International Conference is to create awareness on importance of medicinal plants, usage of medicinal plants, what is bioactive substances, sources of bioactive substances, and conservation of sources bioactive substances (natural products). The lecture workshop will motivate the students of postgraduate, research scholars, scientists, and faculties in the field of Bioactive Substances. The Lecture Workshop will bring together the eminent scientists, faculties, scholars, and students of different fields/branches of Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacology, Microbiology, and Biotechnology on a common platform to exchange their scientific knowledge, views, and their experiences in the field of Bioactive Natural Products
The proposed International Conference on “Biodiversity and Bioactive Natural Products for Human Welfare 2016 (BioNat 2016)” will achieve the following aims
- To provide basic knowledge and create awareness on biodiversity and bioactive natural products, sources of bioactive natural products such as medicinal plants, mangrove plants, marine organisms (plants and animals), microorganisms such as bacteria, actinomycetes, blue green algae and fungi including mushrooms of both fresh water and marine water and terrestrial
- To create awareness on conservation of bioactive natural products sources such as medicinal plants, marine animals, plants, mangrove plants, microorganisms.
- To provide a common platform for exchanging and disseminating the ideas and techniques for utilization of bioactive natural products from different sources.
- To enrich and transfer the knowledge about bioactive natural products, and the techniques for isolation, purification, screening of bioactive substances for different biological activities and utilization of bioactive substances among students, scholars, and faculties.
- To gain the knowledge about isolation of lead or starting compounds to develop drugs, medicine, and pharmaceutical products.
