About Event:
The main objective of the workshop is to increase the usage of
renewable energy in remote areas using Microgrid in mining and industrial sites which can manage the peaks
and troughs of energy demand with available renewable sources. The benefits of
the microgrid are islanding implementation of distributed generation to improve the
distribution system service quality and increased the power system reliability.
The micro grid is designed optimally using HOMER and PVsyst. HOMER – Hybrid
Optimization Model for Electric Renewable software was developed by the
National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) to facilitate the design, analysis
and financial evaluation of hybrid power systems.
PVsyst is a software for simulating PV production and PV system operation. From
this unique position, HOMER and PVsyst provide a variety of services to
facility managers, project developers, program
planners, and technology developers to help them design cost-effective and sustainable power systems.
Key Topics of Discussion
1. Evaluation of Best Energy Resources.
2. Distributed generations, concepts and topologies.
3. Design of Grid Connected Solar and Wind Power using PVsyst and HOMER.
4. Design of Standalone Solar and Wind Power plant.
