About Event:
In the current global scenario, the demand for Renewable Energy
Systems (RES) has increased due to environmental issues and limited fossil
resources. Along with this demand, Photovoltaic (PV) and Wind Energy (WE)
systems have become the most common type of the grid connected RES. These
systems require power electronic conversion stages. As renewable power is
intermittent in nature, these converters have to perform efficiently for any
situation. However to connect these systems to the grid, output voltage and
frequency adjustment are the challenging issues. With the availability of
various topologies for power converters (both DC- AC and DC-DC), there should
be a valid tradeoff between the selection of converters. Various types of
converters have been utilized in the past to provide grid integration with RES.
In PV systems, DC-DC converters are required to stabilize the variable voltage
and frequency for the grid connection. As well, an AC-DC-AC converter is
necessary for the WE systems as wind energy is variable during the system
operation. This workshop helps in design, analysis and selection of power
converters for renewable integration application.
